Shipping Supervisor

Description

We have a new position available at our Inland Way facility as follows:
 
Position:  Shipping Supervisor
 
Start Date: Immediate
 
Salary:  To be determined based on qualifications and experience
 
Description:  This is a supervisory position responsible for the shipping, receiving, and warehousing aspects of our Inland Way operations:

Reports to: Operations Manager Edmonton or, in his absence National Operations Manager

Primary Duty:  Supervise and direct shipping/receiving department, deliveries and warehousing in accordance with policies and procedures. Ensure smooth, safe operation of facility.


Responsibilities:
 
  • Supervise shipping and receiving processes in accordance with plant/company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise shipping/receiving and provide communication between Operations Lead Hand, Logistics Coordinator and production or purchasing on stocking requirements.
  • Communicate with Operations / Sales Manager any items or issues that impact customer relationships including but not limited to product quality and final delivery of goods.
  • Responsible to monitor inventory levels of finished goods, and all items required to ship finished product. 
  • Responsible for receiving control. Reject returns of containers outside of specifications and process according to quality system requirements.
  • Responsible for scheduling shift including: daily work assignments/rotations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, and back-up for absent employees.
  • Responsible to ensure all personnel in shipping/receiving areas conform to safety and regulatory requirements including use of PPE at all times.
  • Assist in shipping/receiving as deemed necessary.
  • Troubleshoot all processes in all the shipping areas
  • Coordinate and perform routine maintenance as required and assist where applicable.
  • Participate in capital projects as directed.
  • Train and coach shipping/receiving department employees.
  • Operate within standard operating procedures and requirements of ISO, RD, and ClearTech Internal systems.
  • Continuous housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe warehouse, shipping area and yard
  • Liaise with external contractors and suppliers as directed by manager
  • Complete documentation and paper work as requested by manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
  
 Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a dedication to quality and safety
  • Minimum 3 years direct supervisory role in shipping receiving
  • Shipping with DG would be considered an asset           
  • Basic computer skills including word processing, spread sheeting, email, and internet.
  • TDG, WHIMS, and Forklift certificates.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proven decision making and problem solving skills.

Working Conditions:
  • Hearing protection and steel toe shoes required
  • Frequently standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, and twisting while transferring product
  • Operating mobile equipment
  • Overtime / weekend work as needed

Hours of operation 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
